Summary

Rose analyses audio on your device and keeps the results there. It has no server, no account system, and no analytics or advertising tracking. It connects only to Apple's own Apple Music and iTunes catalogue services. It uses them only to look up songs and to download the short preview clips it analyses.

Audio you open

When you open a track from Files or your music library, Rose analyses its key, rhythm, stems and loudness on your device. The audio is never uploaded. Rose keeps the results on your device, with a link back to each file you open from Files. It also keeps a copy of each Apple Music preview and each song from your music library that it analyses. These copies stay in the app's own storage and are left out of your device backups. Rose deletes the oldest copies when they take up too much space. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Microphone

Rose asks for microphone access for Listen for Key, which works out the key of music playing in the room. It analyses that audio live, on your device. The audio is never recorded to a file, saved or sent anywhere. Nothing about what the microphone hears leaves your device.

Apple Music

Searching for a song, or reading what is playing now, goes through Apple's MusicKit and the public Apple Music and iTunes catalogue. Rose uses them to find a track and download its 30-second preview. Those requests are covered by Apple's privacy policy. Rose itself doesn't see or store your Apple ID or your subscription. It keeps no listening history beyond the songs you ask it to look up.
