Summary
Rose analyses audio on your device and keeps the results there. It has no server, no account system, and no analytics or advertising tracking. It connects only to Apple's own Apple Music and iTunes catalogue services. It uses them to look up songs and to download the short preview clips it analyses.
Audio you open
When you open a track from Files or your music library, Rose analyses its key, rhythm, stems and loudness on your device. The audio is never uploaded. Rose keeps a local cache of the results, plus the downloaded clip for Apple Music previews. The cache lives in the app's own storage and opens songs instantly next time. Deleting the app removes it.
Microphone
Rose asks for microphone access for Listen for Key, which works out the key of music playing in the room. It analyses that audio live, on your device. The audio is never recorded to a file, saved or sent anywhere.
Apple Music
Searching for a song, or reading what is playing now, goes through Apple's MusicKit and the public Apple Music and iTunes catalogue. Rose uses them to find a track and download its 30-second preview. Those requests are covered by Apple's privacy policy. Rose itself doesn't see or store your Apple ID or your subscription. It keeps no listening history beyond the songs you ask it to look up.
What Rose doesn't do
- No accounts, sign-in or user profiles.
- No analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs.
- No sharing of data with third parties.
- No location, contacts or any data beyond what is described above.
